(Week of September 15 - 19).
I can't figure out if I love soap weddings, or if I love to hate them. I find myself making fun of the overdone clichés, but then again, sometimes my cheeks hurt because I'm smiling like an idiot at my TV during sentimental scenes. For example, I loved it when Sonny and Mike spent time together healing their old wounds last week. Kudos to General Hospital for not making Sonny a nervous idiot and Mike smacking him on the back referencing 'cold feet'. I loved it when Robin popped by, a nice nod to her rich history with Sonny, and wished him well. And I really loved that handshake between Sonny and Jason. Heck, the groom even had some nice things to say to his brother for a change, too, after he got over the shock of seeing him with Claudia on his arm, that is. And how about her stellar line? "I hope you don't get bored to death," Claudia delivered as smoothly as if she had said, "I wish you and your bride every happiness."
Most of the stuff that I loved to hate had to do with the blushing bride, although normally I'm somewhat of a Kate fan. (Unlike a lot of you guys on our message board, I know I'm in the minority on this one!) I didn't just chafe at her scenes because she was so crappy to Olivia, that part I expected. What I hated was her, well, 'Kateness'. Seriously, a rehearsal dress, a rehearsal dinner dress, a pre-wedding dress, a wedding dress, and assumedly there was to be a reception dress if anyone survives that long. When she somewhat jokingly asked Mike if he had any idea what a burden it is to be a fashion icon, I kind of wanted to vomit.
Before I get off the subject of the wedding, for those of you who have been watching the show since the BIG wedding (and I'm referring the Luke & Laura ratings blockbuster back in 1981), there was some big news this week. Sean and Tif are coming back to Port Charles! But only for SOAPnet's Night Shift, dang it. What a reunion, eh? How do you feel about it? I posted a poll about it and nearly half of the 838 (so far) voters are excited to take a little trip back in time to watch them, some of whom don't even watch Night Shift.
Okay, back to present-day Port Charles. I really like Olivia. I think there's a striking resemblance to Kate if you can get past all of the visual trappings of 'Bensonhurst fashion' (Yay! Another oxymoron!) and just look at her face. She has a heart, some guts and would probably really rock the worlds of some of Port Charles' bachelors if the show decides to keep her around for a while. Can you just see her mixing it up with Nikolas or even Coleman? Carly needs a new bff anyway. She and Olivia could be like Diane and Alexis, minus the legal banter.
As for that gunshot that rang out at the end of Friday's show, I don't know how I feel about that yet. Honestly, I don't. I mean, obviously, we all kind of expected something along those lines, didn't we? How I feel about it will likely be determined by the first five minutes of Monday's show. A bloody massacre or a couple of graze wounds later, will Sonny and Kate end up married? Do I really care? Yea, I think I do. I'd like to see them marry and be happy for a while. I do enjoy the kinder, gentler Sonny. I can't see Jason just taking off and heading for the airport to meet Liz for a romantic getaway now however, can you? I know that would upset a lot of you guys, but I don't really feel strongly one way or another on that score either. Now that I think about it, why am I so complacent this week?
Hmmm, maybe I need a session Dr. Lainey Winters. She'd get to the bottom of my lethargy. Or maybe she'd stick her nose into totally unrelated areas of my life instead of really helping me. Do you see where I’m going here? Lainey, you're doing exactly what you're telling Lulu not to do - focusing too much on Johnny! While we're on the subject of Shadybrook, how sad was it when Lulu was begging Laura to wake up in front of Lucky and Nik? I don't know how they're going to explain the fact that Laura slipped away again (IF she comes back, that is), but that was sad. Oh, that feels better, I actually had an opinion. Maybe General Hospital hasn't put me into a coma after all!

So there you have it guys, everything that meant anything to me last week. You?
