Ridge, Brooke and Bridget discuss Eric’s condition, while Nick and Katie discuss their baby.

Katie and Nick recall their island escapade and Katie says it seemed like they were the only two people left in the world. Nick says the memories are all there and Katie says the baby is more than a memory – it’s very real. She thinks it’s going to get even more real for Bridget. Katie says it’s not something they can hide and Nick agrees, but Katie wonders how they will tell Bridget. Katie says hers is a very high-risk pregnancy for both her and the baby. There’s no guarantee she can even carry to term and if she does there could be birth defects due to all her medications and notes that the life expectancy of the baby is in question. Katie says this child may never be. Nick says they shouldn’t make any decisions right now because she’s not that far along. Nick thinks they should do what they can to protect Bridget as long as they can. They agree to wait until they are sure the baby has a reasonable chance before they tell people. Nick says this has to be happening for a reason and they have to believe that the man upstairs has a plan. He wants to take it a step at a time and stay positive. He tells her that this is what is meant to be right now – this baby. Katie hugs him and looks grateful for his support, while Nick looks a bit stressed out.

With Brooke there for support, Ridge asks Bridget what’s going on with their father and wants to know what it means for Eric to be on a ventilator. Bridget explains that his doctors just wanted to give him every possible chance, but she’s afraid that when machines come in the picture the odds get worse not better. She says the coma is deepening and with very little detectable brain activity, the risk of brain damage is very high. She adds Eric might not be able to overcome it even if he does survive. Ridge asks, “Are you saying he won’t?” Bridget tells her brother that a full recovery is highly unlikely. She wishes she could tell him something different, but his condition keeps deteriorating and she doesn’t see a reversal happening. Bridget suggests they start preparing themselves. Brooke can’t comprehend that fact that Eric might never wake up and Bridget cries saying she can’t be in denial about it anymore. Ridge says Eric has always been his strength and with him by his side he felt like he could achieve anything. He’s the finest dad a man could ask for. Brooke asks if there’s any chance Eric could survive and Bridget says a miracle could happen, but they would have to come to terms with the fact that Eric won’t be the same person they’ve always known. Ridge can’t believe this is happening to their father and thinks there must be something or someone who can help, but Bridget says medically they are out of options. Brooke thinks there comes a time when they have to accept the way things are. Ridge doesn’t want to and Bridget says the family will eventually have to make a very difficult decision. Ridge says, “To take him off life support? To let him die?” Brooke says Ridge is the head of the family and he will be looked to in order to make those decisions. Ridge can’t even think about that because he doesn’t even understand what’s going on. Brooke and Bridget talk about Donna and Brooke thinks this must be really hard for her because she loves Eric very much. Ridge agrees and says despite all their differences, he believes she loves his father. Bridget informs them that she looked at Eric’s papers at the hospital and learned that he has given Donna the power to make medical decisions for him. Bridget thinks Eric didn’t finish his living will in time so his wishes can’t be known and Ridge can’t believe Eric didn’t designate one of his kids to make that decision. Ridge says if a decision like that needs to be made, they will all make that decision together. He says they will do what they feel is best for Eric together.
