Yeah - - Rush will probably say they were the Peanut M&M's, which can potentially hurt people with a peanut allergy - - and that will be our President's fault too!!!

My (our) Prez will be arriving here at the Jacksonville NAS at 2:45 PM. He is scheduled to make a speech and rally the troops before he heads to Miami for a Monday evening fund-raiser for congressional Democrats.

Jax NAS is five minutes from my house and, even though it is not open to the public, a friend of mine and myself are going to drive over there. I still have the NAS entrance sticker on my car (it was my Dad's car before he passed away) and we are going to just get in and see what we can see. It will be fun!

Wow, Puddy, that's cool! Make sure to report back to us what your experience was like down there---also, make sure to snap a photo if there are free swine flu shots being given out, and Barack invites you to poke him with the needle... I WANT PROOF that he got one...

Just kidding...have fun and drive safe!

WOW - what a chaotic but fun afternoon! We got through the entrance gate after waiting almost 30 minutes because of all the security, almost turned around and went back.

Traffic running all through the base was at a snail's pace.
Finally went to the O Club and ordered a drink and sat on the patio. Could not get close to the hanger where he was going to speak.

Saw Air Force One in the sky, landing. Fantastic view. Then sat and watched on big screen tv, the whole speech. Saw Air Force One leaving (after another two drinks )

Actually, Osphrey, the friend who went with me is an RN and I told her about your request to give him his Swine Flu shot. Sorry, we couldn't have gotten that close - - the security was UNBELIEVABLE! Never seen anything like it. (Thanks to all the haters out there) You couldn't have gotten through that security if you were wearing a nose stud!!

He wanted to walk from the plane to the hanger, which was very close, but Secret Service said NO WAY!

It was fun and exciting - -

Puddy

Awwww, Puddy, that was awesome! I'm happy to hear that you and your RN friend had a great time...but you guys still could have at least tried to get through security--using your womanly wiley ways and seducing the agents with H1N1 vaccines and tequila shots...LOL...

Can you tell us anything regarding the Prez's speech--what points did he highlight on, or were they things we've already heard?

P.S.--Did you at least try to rob those M&Ms from the kids as a keepsake?

Well, his speech was pretty impressive and you can read about it right here: www.news4jax.com/news/21397866/detail.html

AND YOU HAD BETTER READ IT! My city!!!

Didn't think about seducing the agents with H1N1 vaccines and tequila shots . . but after the long wait in line, and the fun time at the O Club Lounge, they probably would have thrown us out! (Burp!)

When the military guards told us we could not go any closer to the hanger because it was too tied up with security, my friend, (who is a hoot) said, "Why don't you yell out YOU LIE!)

Anyway, believe it or not, the magnificence of seeing Air Force One coming in and leaving, was spectaclar, to me - - especially the "noise" - - Doesn't take much to entertain me, eh?

Democrats are pushing Senate leaders and the White House to speed up key benefits in the health reform bill to 2010, eager to give the party something to show taxpayers for their $900 billion investment in an election year.

The most significant changes to the health care system wouldn’t kick in until 2013 — two election cycles away. With Republicans expected to make next year a referendum on health care reform, Democrats are quietly lobbying to push up the effective dates on popular programs, so they'll have something to run on in the congressional midterm elections.

Fox News' rhetoric echoes Ailes' long history of race-baiting

Under its president, Roger Ailes, Fox News routinely employs racially charged appeals to foment opposition to the Obama administration and other progressive figures, such as Glenn Beck's comments that President Obama is a "racist" and "has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture." Before launching the Fox News Channel, Ailes worked as a media consultant for several Republican campaigns where evidence shows he similarly appealed to racial fears and biases for political gain, and as executive producer for Rush Limbaugh's television show, during which Limbaugh made several controversial statements.

Well, no surprise turncoat Lieberman is tucking his tail between his legs--he will vote to approve a debate about the bill, but he will not vote for the bill with a public option. Why is he still allowed to caucus with Democrats?

In other news--this fight to get moderate/conservative Dems on board with the liberals is going to be a brawl in both the House and the Senate. For some of these Dems who are pushing back against the bill w/public option, they may be shooting themselves in the foot for the 2010 and 2012 elections. As we know, there is overwhelming support nationwide for the public option.

I personally don't like the public option as an option to states, because you have extremely ignorant and uber right wing nuts like Pawlenty that are stating no public option will be accepted in his state. It's a shame---most of the so-called 'Red States' have the poorest healthcare stats in this country, and to deny those who would want a public option rather than 'just die quickly' is cruel.

Here's an interview from Rachel's show last night:

Big asterisk on Reid's public option

Oct. 26: Rachel Maddow is joined by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-OR, to assess the public option to be included in the Senate health reform bill.

personally i think reid's bill is a disgrace, the public option should be made available to everyone, states should not be able to opt out

Yep, I agree....the bill is undergoing financial review right now, but ole Harry really hasn't done much to improve his image with Nevada Dems. Why did he wuss out to moderater Dems and add the state opt out option?

Even if we might not have the 60 Dem Senate votes to prevent a filibuster by Repubs, the bill could still pass based on majority rule. Dems could use a procedural maneuver called "reconciliation" to pass health care reform, which would allow the bill to pass with 51 votes instead of the 60 needed to overcome a filibuster.

Hmmm...this must be some kinda elaborate chess game going on behind the scenes, and we are getting just enough info to keep this discussion going.

i was actually wondering about that, what is the big deal if it can pass with 51 votes?? do it if it were the bush admin, any bill he wanted would pass any way possible, hey he even got illegal things passed, no problem, harry reid is a cat

Whew...it's helpful to keep in mind the process for making a bill into federal law. If we don't keep these steps in mind, we might be getting frustrated prematurely for no reason...

www.naeyc.org/policy/federal/bill_law

We've got under 2 months to go from the Committee Report stage to the President. I think there will be more changes to pass the bill with a public option and the state opt out thing might die a quick death...one can hope!
