ATWT's Larry Bryggman Stars In Play!

Monday, September 29 2008

Larry Bryggman (CBS.com)
Congratulations to Larry Bryggman (ex-John Dixon), who has taken on the role of Mr. Miller in the play "Mrs. Miller Does Her Thing"! The play is written and directed by James Lapine, who has won a Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for playwriting!

The play is centered around Mrs. Miller, a 59-year-old church singer - who sings off key and off tempo - and becomes a minor celebrity because of this. In the late 1960s, Mrs. Miller insists on being upbeat and sunny despite the Vietnam war, continued segregation and the general turmoil of the times. A record producers comes across Mrs. Miller and sees potential in her bad singing and sunny disposition and so begins her 15 minutes of fame.

However, her husband's life isn't so sunny. He resides in a convalescent home and lives in complete reality even while she insists on seeing on the good in things. Sounds like a good base for conflict, doesn't it?

Also starring in the play is Broadway actress Debra Monk (Mrs. Miller) and Molly Camp (Joelle).

You can see the play at Vineyard Playhouse on Martha's Vineyard. Click here for showtimes and ticket information. The play runs through October 4, 2008.
