This week Annie lost Emma! (Soaps.com)
Pondering Pine Valley
September 22 - September 26

I don't know about you guys but I couldn't wait for Friday this week just so I could blog with you all again! Why? Because I loved hanging out in Pine Valley this week. There was the new-and-improved Petey, an engagement party that all of the residents actually attended and more family drama surrounding Zach and Kendall. All in all a good week.

On to the blog!

My favorite thing this week was the accidental electrocution-by-lightning-strike of Petey. I wasn't sure at all that I'd like him getting hurt but the writers actually made it believable. He didn't just randomly get struck, he was out in an electrical storm (not smart, Petey) and happened to grab the metal railing as he was climbing off the loading dock. Not completely smart of him, especially since Petey is Pine Valley's answer to a rocket scientist, but some out of character, either. I've never been struck by lightning but if I were to be struck, that is probably how it would happen!

And, the writers followed it up. Petey had a smokey smell around him for the rest of the week (which actually does happen, I'm told). He also started feeling a little more confident after surviving the strike, which also fits with his character. Petey does have a little bit of a confidence problem but he is beginning to come out of his shell. He even kissed Colby this week - something that is long overdue, in my opinion. Why? Because these two have great potential to be the next Romeo and Juliet of Pine Valley - complete with warring fathers and extended family members who cannot stand one another. You guys must agree with me on that - the poll last week asked if Petey and Colby were a hit and nearly 50% of you agreed that they could be hot, hot, hot! Of course, 30% of you felt the two of them were boring. If things keep heating up, though, I think we'll all be won over to the Petey/Colby pairing.

Guess what I didn't like this week? Frankie and Randi and the going away party. Call me crazy but I don't buy Frankie being so bent on making Taylor happy. Her going away party was a good idea, don't get me wrong, but she's been pushing him to return to Iraq and help her get back there so the fact that he so readily agreed to celebrate his return - when we all know he doesn't want to do - just didn't make sense. And the fact that he didn't tell Taylor off after she ran Randi out of the party doesn't make sense either. He is in love with Randi; he should want her with him. Having a friend run her off just doesn't fit. I haven't changed my mind on the storyline overall; I still think the Frankie/Taylor friendship is a great story, but I don't think friendship only goes one way. And right now Taylor isn't being a friend. She is trying to put up barriers around Frankie so that no one else can talk to him, she is trying to ruin his career by having him falsify her medical report and she is pushing him into a place he doesn't want to be. By the way, Angie, thank you for telling off Taylor about this. It's about time someone did!

And Jesse came clean. (Soaps.com)
I am glad that Ryan finally told Kendall where she could put her buttinsky self - straight out of his life! I'm not glad that he is the one to finally make Kendall admit that she was neglecting her family in favor of her friends. Why is that Ryan could get through to her but three days of heart to heart talks with Zach couldn't? Kendall needs to take a good, hard look at herself and decide what she really wants: a happy life or a life filled with angst and friends who aren't really friends.

On the other hand, Ryan also stepped up with Annie. He stopped letting her manipulate him because of the miscarriage and when he found that gun in her room, he refused to believe her lies. Even when Adam backed her up. So, while I'm still not thrilled with Ryan's flakiness at least he is starting to get back to the Ryan we all know and love, right? Of course if they give us Rylee Part Two, I'm going to change that stance. Because Ryan and Greenlee aren't a super couple. They are toxic to one another.

JR and Babe, on the other hand, are great in their fiftieth time around romance. Babe has grown up so much in the past year. I know a lot of you don't like the changes that Babe has made but I happen to love them. I'm all for leading with your heart and not your head but Babe was too far into the heart. I don't know any other almost-thirty-something woman who thinks totally with her heart. That is something a teenager does, not a grown woman with a family. So to see her approach her renewed love for JR with this new maturity is a breakthrough. At least I think so.

I'd comment about the Jake/Amanda romance but they were given all of about five lines this week. So I'll just says this, "Writers, bring us more Jake and Amanda! Pleeeeeeeeeze!!"

Adam and Erica are really a scream lately aren't they? And is anyone else totally expecting them to fall head over heels for one another again? I can already see it because their verbal sparring already has a little bit of a sexy subtext. Erica wants a man to hang all over her. Adam wants a strong woman who will stand up to him. What more could either of them want but the other? And where will this leave Krystal? Will she finally admit she is still in love with Adam? Or will this just be more breathing space for her?

Who thinks Jesse's secret is a lot more than a simple love affair that he ended? This week he told Angie everything - supposedly. But we heard him on the phone telling someone that he loved them. Jesse is a lot of things, but he isn't the kind of man who would tell a woman he loved her but tell another woman that the affair was over. I have a feeling that Jesse hasn't been completely honest - still! - with Angie. And I have a feeling when everything does come out, things won't be the same in Hubbard World!

My final thought for the week is for Aidan. My friend, there are many things that you should forgive and forget. Having your wife call you by another man's name and then tell said man that she wanted his babies is not a forgive-and-forget thing. This is more than Greenlee not feeling well and misspeaking. This is more than a deep level of friendship. Greenlee has problems. Lots and lots of problems. And most of them are related to Ryan. Aidan, you're a great man and you're probably greater than Ryan, but Greenlee isn't being honest. She may love you but she has a lot of issues related to her ex that are not even close to being fixed.

Who else needs a big wake up call? Is it time for Zach to cut his losses? What about Adam and JR? Should Colby give Petey a real chance? Is it time for Angie to leave Jesse because of his dishonesty? Let's talk about it in the comments and you're thoughts could make it into next week's column!

I too feel that greenlee has big issue that needs to be resolved. Its unfair that adien has to put up with it. If my hubbie say he wants his ex to have his baby it would be over. That is a no no and for adien to let it go i dont know. I for one i am with you that jesse has more secrets well we will find out soon. That is it for now.

Can anyone be happy on this soap? I liked the Annie/Ryan happy times. Kendall is in a misery loves company state of mind. She's a Hater! Let her die in the tornado. I like the former actress who played Babe. Jesse & Angie could have stayed gone!More couple misery. There is too much negativity. Why does Babe have to have Fusion? She and JR could form their own company!!Give Fusion a run for their money! Kendall doesn't take care of any of her business! Colby will not care for Petey if he causes harm to her brothers wife. This s/l is crazy!!

I'm one of those 30 % because Petey to me and it's not the actor it's part of the writing and not paying attention to the history meanwhile getting rid of other characters that could have spiced up Colby's life. Petey as a matter of fact needs a worthy opponent for Colby's heart, whether it's Sean, whether it's Dre, I need to see that especially when your talking about the Chandler heiress I need a triangle there, Colby is beautiful, rich and independent but the show wants to paste her to someone, when she first came into PV she was a trouble making hell raiser and now is a made to be dull girl w/ no options, What ? This is the Chandler heiress and you want me to believe only one guy wants her badly. As for Petey I find him annoying and these aren't rootable for me when I watch them. My god if Ryan can have a triangle, if Erica can have multiple options, why is Colby different ?

Anyway I thank god for Annie/Ryan/Greenlee/Zendall/Adam/Erica because it keeps me entertained, sure I'll be frustrated but in a... oh but what happens next eager kind of way, I need that when I watch AMC. BTW that tornado needs to hurry up !

I am not liking Petey and Colby yet. Colby needs a challenge and Pete would be too easy to get. He should back off some. I like the current Babe and hope she and JR will make it for the long haul. Babe and JR should start their own company, call it Arabella and have Amanda, Annie and Randi work for them. Since JR has become suspicious of Adam he should tell him to do what he wants with Fusion. Zack should cut his losses and leave Kendall or move to another bedroom if he doesn't want to leave the kids. It's obvious Kendall cares more for Ryan than she does him. I agree with you about Adam and Erica! They both seem to have renewed life since they started playing each other. I smell romance in the air! Of course Jesse hasn't told Angie the whole truth. But I don't think what he told her was a lie. I believe the person making those calls is a child born of the relatioship he told her about. Angie won't like him hiding that. The various visions Aidan had while Greens was resting tell the story. He knows Ryan will be the cause of the downfall of Ailee. Ryan has become one those characters I neither like nor dislike. Tad and Kwak need a wake-up call. They seem to think their marriage of convenience is a REAL one. Wouldn't it be fun to see Kwak and Erica catfighting over Adam?
