September 22 - September 26
I don't know about you guys but I couldn't wait for Friday this week just so I could blog with you all again! Why? Because I loved hanging out in Pine Valley this week. There was the new-and-improved Petey, an engagement party that all of the residents actually attended and more family drama surrounding Zach and Kendall. All in all a good week.
On to the blog!
My favorite thing this week was the accidental electrocution-by-lightning-strike of Petey. I wasn't sure at all that I'd like him getting hurt but the writers actually made it believable. He didn't just randomly get struck, he was out in an electrical storm (not smart, Petey) and happened to grab the metal railing as he was climbing off the loading dock. Not completely smart of him, especially since Petey is Pine Valley's answer to a rocket scientist, but some out of character, either. I've never been struck by lightning but if I were to be struck, that is probably how it would happen!
And, the writers followed it up. Petey had a smokey smell around him for the rest of the week (which actually does happen, I'm told). He also started feeling a little more confident after surviving the strike, which also fits with his character. Petey does have a little bit of a confidence problem but he is beginning to come out of his shell. He even kissed Colby this week - something that is long overdue, in my opinion. Why? Because these two have great potential to be the next Romeo and Juliet of Pine Valley - complete with warring fathers and extended family members who cannot stand one another. You guys must agree with me on that - the poll last week asked if Petey and Colby were a hit and nearly 50% of you agreed that they could be hot, hot, hot! Of course, 30% of you felt the two of them were boring. If things keep heating up, though, I think we'll all be won over to the Petey/Colby pairing.
Guess what I didn't like this week? Frankie and Randi and the going away party. Call me crazy but I don't buy Frankie being so bent on making Taylor happy. Her going away party was a good idea, don't get me wrong, but she's been pushing him to return to Iraq and help her get back there so the fact that he so readily agreed to celebrate his return - when we all know he doesn't want to do - just didn't make sense. And the fact that he didn't tell Taylor off after she ran Randi out of the party doesn't make sense either. He is in love with Randi; he should want her with him. Having a friend run her off just doesn't fit. I haven't changed my mind on the storyline overall; I still think the Frankie/Taylor friendship is a great story, but I don't think friendship only goes one way. And right now Taylor isn't being a friend. She is trying to put up barriers around Frankie so that no one else can talk to him, she is trying to ruin his career by having him falsify her medical report and she is pushing him into a place he doesn't want to be. By the way, Angie, thank you for telling off Taylor about this. It's about time someone did!

On the other hand, Ryan also stepped up with Annie. He stopped letting her manipulate him because of the miscarriage and when he found that gun in her room, he refused to believe her lies. Even when Adam backed her up. So, while I'm still not thrilled with Ryan's flakiness at least he is starting to get back to the Ryan we all know and love, right? Of course if they give us Rylee Part Two, I'm going to change that stance. Because Ryan and Greenlee aren't a super couple. They are toxic to one another.
JR and Babe, on the other hand, are great in their fiftieth time around romance. Babe has grown up so much in the past year. I know a lot of you don't like the changes that Babe has made but I happen to love them. I'm all for leading with your heart and not your head but Babe was too far into the heart. I don't know any other almost-thirty-something woman who thinks totally with her heart. That is something a teenager does, not a grown woman with a family. So to see her approach her renewed love for JR with this new maturity is a breakthrough. At least I think so.
I'd comment about the Jake/Amanda romance but they were given all of about five lines this week. So I'll just says this, "Writers, bring us more Jake and Amanda! Pleeeeeeeeeze!!"
Adam and Erica are really a scream lately aren't they? And is anyone else totally expecting them to fall head over heels for one another again? I can already see it because their verbal sparring already has a little bit of a sexy subtext. Erica wants a man to hang all over her. Adam wants a strong woman who will stand up to him. What more could either of them want but the other? And where will this leave Krystal? Will she finally admit she is still in love with Adam? Or will this just be more breathing space for her?
Who thinks Jesse's secret is a lot more than a simple love affair that he ended? This week he told Angie everything - supposedly. But we heard him on the phone telling someone that he loved them. Jesse is a lot of things, but he isn't the kind of man who would tell a woman he loved her but tell another woman that the affair was over. I have a feeling that Jesse hasn't been completely honest - still! - with Angie. And I have a feeling when everything does come out, things won't be the same in Hubbard World!
My final thought for the week is for Aidan. My friend, there are many things that you should forgive and forget. Having your wife call you by another man's name and then tell said man that she wanted his babies is not a forgive-and-forget thing. This is more than Greenlee not feeling well and misspeaking. This is more than a deep level of friendship. Greenlee has problems. Lots and lots of problems. And most of them are related to Ryan. Aidan, you're a great man and you're probably greater than Ryan, but Greenlee isn't being honest. She may love you but she has a lot of issues related to her ex that are not even close to being fixed.
Who else needs a big wake up call? Is it time for Zach to cut his losses? What about Adam and JR? Should Colby give Petey a real chance? Is it time for Angie to leave Jesse because of his dishonesty? Let's talk about it in the comments and you're thoughts could make it into next week's column!
And, hey, if you just can't wait to find out what will happen, check out the latest video promo.
